1)Petal Lens Hood
2)Round Lens Hood
So what is the purpose for having a lens hood in front of your lens??
The answer is simple, it is to prevent light from hitting the front lens element from the sides, thus reducing contrast and creating lens flare. Beside that, it also act as a protection to the lens.
Sometime, lens flare could be a great enhance to your photo. But, it also could damage the feel of whole photo. Its all up to own perspective.
What it look like:

I took this shot at my first album. And i found out this problem when browse through at photoshop. After that, i was going to camera shop to find compatible lens hood to my D90.
One piece of petal lens hood is around 40 to 60 buck which to me is expensive, i go to another shop and they told me usually lens hood are come with the lenses.....i am so lucky that i never buy that lens hood. Thanks to the uncle who telling me. :)
